NEW!  PTA Meeting on Zoom on 9/16 @ 7pm

Please join us for our first meeting on Wednesday evening.  Zoom details will be emailed—including items to be voted on for your review—early next week.  We will be presenting our audit, our 2020-21 Budget, and our revised and updated Bylaws. Dr. Plaza and Mr. Siegler will share their thoughts on joining the PTA and give an update on remote learning and other relevant topics.

NEW! We really are all in the PTA!

Our PTA membership drive kicks off Monday!  We’re going to make it even easier this year, because 2020 is already hard enough.  Orrington PTA needs your participation and voices, now more than ever, so membership is automatic for the 2020-21 school year,  unless you tell us you’d prefer to OPT OUT by filling out this form:  The Orrington PTA will pay membership dues ($4.50 per adult member which covers the administrative costs that go to Illinois PTA and National PTA) for all members, unless you’d like to help us offset those costs by clicking here.

What are the benefits to being a member?  While everyone is encouraged to attend PTA meetings and all PTA sponsored activities, PTA members can vote on budgets and other matters of importance and help guide the direction of the PTA’s efforts and programming. Orrington PTA, through the work of volunteers and the donation of funds, supports many great programs that make our school a special place.  Click here to learn more about what we accomplish together: About the Orrington PTA

NEW!  Book Nook on the Porch!

The Book Bins in front of school are getting re-sorted this weekend.  Please come take a look for books to read--there are books across every reading/interest level!  Many Orrington teachers are helping get books into the hands of students across our school community--if you donate books your children are no longer reading, another Orrington student can enjoy them! Please leave donated books in the “To Be Sorted” bins.  Let’s keep the spirit of Book Nook going even though we’re not together!

Flag Football

Orrington 4th and 5th grade students will still have opportunities to play co-ed flag football this year in an Evanston Park District league. There will be 6 teams at each grade level across the district, with a maximum of 20 students per team; all games will be intra-team ONLY.  Students may register individually.  If a group of players want to register for the same team, please sign up individually for the same team.  Please email if you have any questions. Orrington Says Goodbye

Earlier this summer, the Orrington School community lost Mitch Boursiquot, known as Mr. B. to generations of Orrington students, staff and families.  Mr. B. brought so much joy, wisdom and love to so many in our school community for all the years he shared with us. He was truly beloved, and we are heartbroken by his passing.

We are grateful for our time with Mr. B., for the kindness he shared and the impact he made on so many lives.  Several tributes to honor Mr. B. are being organized by current and former Orrington community members.  Mr. B. will always be remembered as the heart of Orrington School.
