Superintendent Search Update

Dear District 65 Staff and Families,
The District 65 Board of Education would like to take this opportunity to provide an update on our search for a superintendent. Thank you again to all who participated in creating our Leadership Profile. Your input was invaluable and strongly informed BWP and Associates’ candidate screening process. The Board will continue to refer to the profile and our Racial Equity Impact Assessment Tool as we interview candidates and, ultimately, make a final selection.
On October 28, during a closed session meeting, BWP presented a final report summarizing basic information on the 31 candidates who applied for the position. BWP also recommended a slate of five candidates for the Board to interview. The slate represents a diverse selection of high-quality candidates from around the country, and the Board is looking forward to talking with each of them.
The Board will interview the recommended slate of candidates next week during closed session meetings on November 12-14. Our intention is to narrow the pool to two or three final candidates that the Board will conduct second round interviews during the first week of December. The Board remains committed to a transparent process that is inclusive of community voice. We are thoughtfully considering opportunities to obtain additional input while respecting the confidentiality requested by the candidates in order to remain in our search process.
The Board anticipates announcing our new superintendent in January. We look forward to sharing an update with our community in the coming weeks. Thank you for your interest and continued involvement in this important process.
