Important: 2019-2020 Calendar Update
In September, the School Board approved an amendment to the 2019-2020 school calendar. The School Improvement Day previously scheduled for Wednesday, March 4, 2020 has been moved to Monday, March 16, 2020. Overall, there is no change to the amount of instructional time for students. Please note that:
- Wednesday, March 4, 2020 is a regular day of school for students (full day schedule)
- Monday, March 16, 2020 is a School Improvement Day and early dismissal for K-8 students
- JEH Early Childhood Center: Monday March 16, 2020 is a NO School Day for all students in the Head Start Program and NO SCHOOL for 1/2 Day PM Only programs. THERE WILL BE SCHOOL for students in the 1/2 Day AM PFA and Special Education Programs.
An amended calendar (in English and Spanish) is available on the District 65 website. In an effort to limit disruption to families, this decision was made at the start of the school year to provide ample notice so that any necessary childcare arrangements can be made.
Please note that optional care through the District 65 School Age Child Care program will be provided on March 16 to those families that have enrolled. We have also notified afterschool providers including Evanston Parks and Rec Department, Family Focus, McGaw YMCA, Right at School, and Y.O.U. Families should make the necessary arrangements for afterschool care.
This decision was made to accommodate a unique professional learning opportunity for all educators to hear Dr. Robin DiAngelo, author of White Fragility - Why it's so hard for White People to talk about Racism, speak at ETHS. All educators have received a copy of this book as a focal point of learning for this school year and we believe hearing Dr. DiAngelo speak will be a powerful experience for all. We would like to thank our colleagues at Evanston Township High School for making this opportunity available at no cost to District 65.
