The Wizard of Oz is Coming to Chute on March 13-14

This March, Chute Middle School is transforming into the Land of Oz  for the 2019 all-school musical, The Wizard of Oz. Over 230 sixth through eighth grade students, staff members, and parent volunteers have worked for months to bring the classic production to life.

Held every three years, the talented students of Chute Middle School are piecing the all-school production together from start to finish - from costume and set design to acting, singing, and dancing, from the orchestra to advertising - students are doing it all with the help of Chute educators Jenna Temkin (Director), Matt Przekota (musical director), Jennifer McGuire (stage crew), Margaret Philbrick and Alyson Berger (orchestra), Cindy Adler (scenery club and advanced arts), Sherri Kushner (media/graphics), and Elena Kountoures (choreography). The Chute musical is a long standing tradition for over 20 years and is the only one in the district to present the full musical (not junior version) with live instrumentation.

Using L. Frank Baum’s book as its inspiration, this version of The Wizard of Oz uses the story elements and famous songs from the classic stage musical. Join Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Man, Cowardly Lion, and several new characters as they follow the Yellow Brick Road for a twisting and entertaining trip to the Emerald City.

All are invited to attend the performances on March 13-14 at 7pm in the Chute Middle School Auditorium (1400 Oakton Street, Evanston). Tickets are $10 and seating is reserved on a first come, first served basis. Ticket forms are available to download and print at or can be picked up in the main office at Chute Middle School.
