Thank you to each of you who participated in the Zoom meetings we hosted yesterday for staff and families regarding next steps for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Literary and Fine Arts School. We certainly wish these meetings could have been in person to allow for more personal interaction on these critical matters. We join you in a united resolve to create needed action and positive change to strengthen achievement and enhance children’s overall school experiences.
During the meeting we provided a brief summary of findings based on concerns shared by both educators and families and communicated an action plan for school support and success. The action plan, based on the MIRACLES improvement model, which was developed by our incoming superintendent, Dr. Devon Horton, has been posted on the King Arts website for review. We invite you to learn more about our commitments outlined by Dr. LaTarsha Green, Executive Director of Black Student Success, using the MIRACLES Action Plan framework. Looking forward, we anticipate that the Board will appoint a new principal very soon. Once the new principal is on board, we know there will be many opportunities to engage more deeply in this important work together. Please contact us if you have questions or suggestions.
