Welcome, Principal Laura Pinsof!

We are pleased to announce Ms. Laura Pinsof as the next principal of Lincolnwood Elementary!  This appointment was unanimously approved by the School Board this evening and Ms. Pinsof will begin in her new role as of July 1, 2022. Special thanks to those who shared their voice and helped us identify the qualities, skills, and experience desired for the next Lincolnwood leader as part of our virtual meetings and survey this spring.

Ms. Pinsof has demonstrated incredible leadership skills as a member of the District 65 Aspiring Leaders Program and returns to the Evanston community years after graduating from Evanston Township High School, Nichols Middle School, and Lincoln Elementary. She has an unwavering focus on nurturing student and staff growth and well-being. She leads with compassion, joy, and humility and loves building vibrant learning communities driven by shared goals, data-driven truth-telling, and a commitment to reflection and open communication. She is experienced in translating equity goals into concrete steps toward meaningful action to upend inequitable systems, practices, and outcomes.

Ms. Pinsof first knew that she wanted to work in education when she was an assistant teacher in a bilingual middle school math class in the Washington Heights neighborhood of New York City. From there, she went on to teach high school, serve as a district curriculum coordinator, lead an early childhood center, and work as an instructional coach and MTSS coordinator. Along this journey, Ms. Pinsof also served as a university-level instructor of social studies methods, SEED (Seeking Educational Equity and Diversity) leader, new teacher mentor, anti-bias parent educator, and instigator of no-cut, inclusive dance performance opportunities for young people.

Ms. Pinsof holds a B.A. with Honors in Anthropology and a Concentration in Dance from Wesleyan University, an M.A.T. in History from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and an Ed.M. in Educational Organization and Leadership from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She lives in the Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago with her husband and two teenage children and enjoys gardening, cooking, and the occasional dance party. While not a native speaker and always a learner, she loves to practice speaking Spanish whenever she can.

We are very excited to have Ms. Pinsof join District 65 and the Lincolnwood community and look forward to supporting her transition into the role of Principal this summer. Please stay tuned for a meet-and-greet opportunity later this summer!

Warm regards,

Dr. Devon Horton (he/him)
