D65 and Chicago Therapy Collective provide Support Group for LGBTQ+ Families
On Wednesday, June 29, 7pm, District 65 in collaboration with Chicago Therapy Collective, is pleased to offer a support group for LGBTQ+ families in the District. This group will be an opportunity to connect with other families, be supported, build relationships and trust together, and enjoy each other's company.

Rising 5th-8th graders: Make your own mini-movie and enter the Film It! Citywide Challenge!
Rising 5th-8th graders can shoot and edit their own narrative, documentary, tik-tok, or experimental film. You can do it at home or outside or wherever! Submitted films by July 21 will be premiered on the BIG SCREEN at the Film It! Fest on July 28 with free ice cream from C&W Market for all.

Juneteenth Observance: No Summer Learning/D65 Buildings Closed on June 20
Evanston/Skokie School District 65 will be closed on Monday, June 20, 2022, in observance of Juneteenth (June 19). There will be no summer learning programs (including District 65 and YMCA Summer Learning) and all D65 schools and centers will be closed. Summer Learning classes will resume and district buildings will reopen on Tuesday, June 21, 2022.

As you begin thinking about your plans for fall, we wanted to remind you that registration is ongoing for before and after-school child care. We are excited for the opportunity to offer expanded options to two high-quality programs, both available for K-5 students at all elementary and magnet schools.

Welcome, Principal Laura Pinsof, to Lincolnwood Elementary School!
We are pleased to announce Ms. Laura Pinsof as the next principal of Lincolnwood Elementary! This appointment was unanimously approved by the School Board this evening and Ms. Pinsof will begin in her new role as of July 1, 2022. Special thanks to those who shared their voice and helped us identify the qualities, skills, and experience desired for the next Lincolnwood leader as part of our virtual meetings and survey this spring.

Summer Food Program
Beginning Monday, June 13, 2022, the City of Evanston will provide free cold breakfasts and lunches to youth ages 1 to 18 years old as part of the Summer Food Program. Free meals are available to all youth daily, Monday through Friday, on a first-come, first-served basis. Breakfast will be served from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Summer is officially here! I wanted to send a quick note to offer my deepest thanks and appreciation for a tremendous school year! And to offer my congratulations to all of our D65 graduates! It was truly such a welcome opportunity for students, families, and staff to come together and celebrate safely in in-person ceremonies!

Classroom and Locker Clean Out
D65 schools are mobilizing to gather leftover school supplies from classrooms and lockers that would typically go to the landfill. This includes anything from paper and markers to calculators and science equipment.

Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC) Meeting, Wednesday, June 1, 6:30pm
Reminder that the final SEPAC meeting of the year is this coming Wednesday, June 1, at 6:30 pm! We will be voting on leadership and to amend the bylaws, including a name change for the group to CCIE (Caregiver Council for Inclusive Education), as well as hosting an open discussion about the direction of the group.
