Arts Integration Family Night 2022
An annual interactive museum showcasing our literary and fine arts.
Friday, April 22nd, 2022 was the National Day of Silence.
Day of Silence is GLSEN's (Gay, Lesbian, Straight education network) annual day of action to spread awareness about the effects of the bullying and harassment of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning students. In the United States, students take a day-long vow of silence to symbolically represent the silencing of LGBTQ+ students.
Students in 5th-8th grade chose to participate in the Day of Silence with about 100 King Arts students participating. Students participated in especially large numbers in 5th grade and 7th grade. Students in GSA gave small mini-presentations to grades 5th-8th grade on What is GSA, What is the Day of Silence, What are pronouns and how to use them, and how to respectfully disagree. Students were able to buy armbands in support or were able to participate using cards explaining their day of action.
