Chronic Health Conditions
If your child has a chronic health condition that may require special medical care or accommodation while at school, please contact the health office personnel at your child’s school. If needed, your child’s school team will work with you to create an emergency care plan along with any additional specific accommodations recommended by your child’s physician, which serves as the basis for a Section 504 plan or as part of an Individualized Education Plan. Common chronic health conditions include diabetes mellitus, epilepsy, asthma, and life threatening allergies (see links). Other examples of chronic health conditions that may require accommodation include cardiac conditions, endocrine disorders, and autoimmune diseases. If your child has a health condition that requires special medical care and emergency response, please reach out to your school's health office personnel or the Director of Health Services to discuss your child's needs.
