School Age Child Care (SACC)

Evanston/Skokie School District 65’s School Age Child Care (SACC) program provides a nurturing, caring, and safe environment for children before and after school. The program is available to kindergarten through 5th grade students that are enrolled in District 65 elementary and magnet schools.
Children that participate in the SACC program are divided into small groups according to age and activity. Activities are developmentally appropriate and include story time, sports, drama, art, science, music, and indoor/outdoor play. Literacy, enrichment, and academic tutoring are integral components of the School Age Child Care Program. Space is limited but every effort is made to accommodate our families' needs at each site. All childcare sites are licensed by the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS).
Services through the School Age Child Care program are provided during the school year from 7am to the start of the school day and from the end of the school day until 6pm. Please be advised that childcare is not available on school holidays; however, special Optional Care is available on School Improvement Days (school half-days) and on days where there is no school due to Parent-Teacher Conferences (October and February).

The SACC program is designed to provide a before and after school experience that:
- offers families a safe and secure environment for their children outside the regular school day;
- nurtures and promotes the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of children;
- supports each site's School Improvement Plan; and
- promotes life-long learning skills.
Literacy, enrichment, and academic tutoring are integral components of the School Age Childcare program. The program consists of multi-age groups from kindergarten through fifth grade, with children divided into smaller groups according to activity or age. Activities are developmentally appropriate.
Enrollment in SACC does not preclude children from participating in other after-school enrichment programs that include sports, clubs, or activities. However, SACC fees are based on enrollment, not attendance.
