Permissive Transfers

A student's parent(s)/guardian(s) may request the student be transferred to a District school other than the one to which the student was assigned. This process is designed for students who may be better accommodated by the education program at another school or extenuating circumstances. The consideration also takes into account space utilization and the racial balance of the school in question. Students who attend a school on a permissive transfer are not eligible for transportation (bus) services (Board policies 4:110 and 7:30).

• Submitting an application does not guarantee approval
• Permissive transfers granted at the elementary level are honored through 5th grade.
• Families must reapply if they want their student to attend a middle school outside their assigned attendance boundary
• For the 2026-27 school year, initial determinations will be sent by April 1, 2026

The week of February 2, 2026, families will receive a student assignment letter for each of their students. The letter will include the link and instructions for completing a permissive transfer request. All permissive transfer requests MUST be submitted by 11:59 p.m. March 1, 2026, to be considered for the 2026-27 school year.
