Dear District 65 Community -

It is with great enthusiasm that I announce Eric Miller as the next Chief Financial Officer of Evanston/Skokie School District 65. His appointment was approved by the School Board at tonight’s meeting and is effective July 1, 2026. 

Mr. Miller brings nearly 20 years of successful leadership experience in school finance and operations across both large urban and small suburban school districts. He also returns to the Evanston/Skokie community having proudly attended Walker Elementary, Chute Middle School, and Evanston Township High School.

I am confident in Mr. Miller’s leadership and his ability to build on the strong foundation already underway as we continue strengthening the district’s long-term financial future with transparency, stability, and a student-centered focus. Most recently, Mr. Miller served as Assistant Superintendent of Business Services/CSBO for Glenview School District 34, where he oversaw district finance, budgeting, facilities, transportation, food service, safety, risk management, treasury, and operational services.

Mr. Miller impressed a series of interview panels composed of district leaders, school board members, and our financial services staff with his collaborative leadership style and deep operational and financial expertise. During his tenure in Glenview, Mr. Miller helped lead approximately $165 million in capital improvements connected to a voter-approved referendum and worked collaboratively with the district’s community finance committee to develop long-range financial and facilities planning processes focused on sustainability and transparency. Prior to District 34, he served in leadership roles in Skokie School District 69 and Chicago Public Schools. Beyond his professional experience, Mr. Miller enjoys music, cooking, and spending time with family.

While the past several years have brought significant financial challenges, our district has remained focused on building a stronger and more sustainable future. Through several phases of our Structural Deficit Reduction Plan, we have reduced operating expenses by more than $26 million while also implementing stronger financial systems, reporting structures, and operational processes. 

Mr. Miller has shared how honored he is to officially join the D65 community and looks forward to working collaboratively with staff, families, and community stakeholders in support of the district’s mission and long-term goals.
