On most mornings at La Principal restaurant in Evanston, you’ll find D65 students hard at work. Students in Park School’s transition program clock in and start the many tasks associated with opening a restaurant for the day: taking chairs down, wiping tables, polishing and folding silverware, filling sugar caddies, and more.
La Principal owner Eric Young knows each student by name and welcomes them four times a week. It’s part of a longstanding partnership with Park’s vocational program, headed by Transition Coordinator Jennifer Flaxman, to provide training for students who are approaching graduation. Students work on their skills both in the classroom and in the community. Learn about additional supports at Park School
