D65 Students Marvel at Solar Eclipse

What an unforgettable day of learning! On Monday, April 8, 2024, students across District 65 headed outside to view the solar eclipse! Students observed the changes in weather, their shadows, and the moon blocking the sun (using solar viewing glasses).

A number of classes and grade levels across the district have learned about the eclipse as part of our curriculum. This includes Ben Apter's 8th grade science class at Nichols Middle! In conjunction with their learning and in preparation for Monday’s event, the class took a field trip to Adler Planetarium. “Prepping and then experiencing it? They will never forget this,” Mr. Apter said Monday.

Nichols Middle and Mr. Apter's 8th grade science students were featured on NBC Channel 5 as they watched the solar eclipse! Watch the feature here!
