In collaboration with our community partners, we are excited to offer a wide range of academic and enrichment summer offerings! Detailed program information is included below.
Program Grade levels below refer to students' current grade levels during SY23-24, not their rising grade levels next year.
The priority application window was open from February 8-25, 2024. Applications received during this time period are NOT first-come, first-served. For program seats, District 65 will prioritize students who qualify for free and reduced-price meals and students who are not yet achieving at grade level.
Applications are still open! Applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis for programs where seats are available. Applications will be processed until mid-May or until all spots are filled.
Applications must be submitted via Powerschool Parent Portal (instructions below).

Camp Kuumba (Kuumba Evanston)
Camp Kuumba is a three week camp rooted in the principles of respecting one's self and their "families" at camp. We are focused on helping our campers discover themselves by exploring and discovering the world around them which includes reading a book with a Black female and male protagonists, STEM projects, new sports they've never played, activities they've never tried and field trips to places they've never been.

McGaw YMCA Summer Learning Program
The McGaw YMCA Summer Learning Program provides children meaningful literacy, and STEAM experiences that contribute to their academic growth, support their social emotional development and foster a sense of belonging.

Summer LIFT
Summer Lift is a student-focused tier III intervention program designed to foster literacy skill building and development through targeted instruction and student self-direction. Summer Lift focuses on specific student needs while accommodating their individual learning styles. Summer Lift serves students from District 65 and District 202 in grades 2-12. Participants have access to explicit instruction from literacy interventionists who are licensed reading specialists (or hold a reading teacher endorsement) who have been trained to work with students of varying needs.

EPL STEM Camp
EPL will offer exciting enrichment programs that will serve as a gateway to introduce and expound on STEM learning.

Haven Academy
Haven Academy is an engaging and instructional SEL program. Students will be offered a plethora of content ranging from SEL lessons to college/career discussions to academic support.

JumpStart
JumpStart is designed to give Kindergarten bound students who are exiting JEH additional support needed to prepare them for Kindergarten.

Summer Literacy Intensive
The Summer Literacy Intensive is designed for families looking for their child to make significant progress in their decoding, encoding and overall literacy abilities across the course of the program.

Newcomers/Aprendizaje de verano para estudiantes recién llegados
The Newcomer Summer Learning program is geared towards students that speak another language at home. This program will help students develop their English language skills and allow them to further practice academic language.

Meta Summer Experience (MSX)
McGaw YMCA Meta Summer Experience is a STEAM program for 5th-7th grade students. This program offers a community-focused STEAM learning environment.

ESY (Extended School Year) Program
This program is provided to students who have been found eligible for ESY through their IEP. Our five-week program provides specialized instruction aligned with a student's IEP goals. Students will be provided individual support around academics, social emotional functioning, and independence in order to maintain skills during the summer months

Community Partners Offering Summer Programs
Books & Breakfast
This summer, Books & Breakfast will offer intensive literacy support in a free 6 week program. Each student will receive a trained tutor who will provide individualized, online reading support 3 times per week for 90 minutes a session. This program helps students to build a love for reading and builds their confidence as readers.

Y.O.U’s Summer Programs provide an essential mix of programs and activities to support academic, social, and emotional growth.
