Device Protection Plan & Replacement Procedure

District 65 is providing a Device Protection Plan as part of the required Technology fee that is assessed with student fees for the new school year.  The annual insurance fee is $80 for students who qualify for full-price meals and $24 for students qualifying for reduced-price meals.  Students qualifying for free meals will be covered under the Device Protection Plan. The insurance fee is non-refundable and is applicable for one calendar year, starting on the first day of school.

Device Protection Plan Coverage

The Device Protection Plan covers repairs or replacement needed due to damage and loss as defined below.  Coverage includes up to two claims per school year for both the device and accessories (such as the keyboard case), with an annual benefit limit totaling $810.

  • Damage: Damage caused by an accidental event, such as spills or drops, that causes physical damage such as cracked screens, broken headphone/charging ports, or sticky/missing keys in a keyboard.
  • Fire or Natural Disaster: Damage to or loss of the device caused by fire or natural disasters (such as flooding).
  • Electrical Surge: Damage to the device due to an electrical surge.
  • Theft / Loss: Loss due to theft or accidental loss.

Replacement Procedure

If a student’s device is damaged or lost, they should inform their homeroom teacher (grades K–5) or a content area teacher (grades 6–8) right away. The teacher will then submit a support ticket to District 65 Technology Services. The school’s assigned building technology specialist will work with the teacher to coordinate a repair or replacement. Families should not take district-issued devices to outside repair shops (such as the Apple Store or Best Buy). All repairs and replacements must be handled through District 65 Technology Services.

Repair or Replacement Fees Payment

If a family is responsible for repair or replacement fees, these fees will be added to the student’s fee account and payments can be made through RevTrak using the student ID number and family sign-in. For more information about student fees, balance inquiries, requests for a payment plan or waiver, and payment options, please contact Jennifer Roland at fees@district65.net or 847-859-8015.

Families may pay in person at the Joseph E. Hill Education Center (1500 McDaniel Ave., Evanston). Once you've arrived, please call 8015 from the lobby phone. Payments cannot be received at the main office of your child's school.
