Registration

All student-athletes must complete the District 65 IESA/Sports Conference registration process before participating in any interscholastic athletic activity, including tryouts, practices, or contests. Students must register for each sport they participate in during the school year.

District 65 offers interscholastic athletic opportunities for middle school students in grades 6–8 throughout the fall, winter, and spring seasons.

Steps to Register for Sports

Students may not participate in tryouts, practices, or competitions until all requirements have been completed.

Our goal is to ensure every student-athlete begins the season safely, prepared, and ready to enjoy a positive educational athletic experience.

STEP 1: Complete the Sports Registration Form

STEP 2: Submit Your Physical Exam

Your student must have a current Illinois sports physical on file with the school's Health Clerk before participating in tryouts, practices, or competitions.

A physical is required for:

Students new to District 65
Incoming 6th graders
Any student whose current physical is no longer valid

Already have a current physical on file? You do not need to submit another one.

Academic Eligibility

The District 65 IESA/Sports Conference believes that success in the classroom comes first. Athletics extend the educational experience, and student-athletes are expected to show the same commitment to academics that they show in competition.

To remain eligible for participation, student-athletes must maintain satisfactory academic progress and meet all District 65 and Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) eligibility requirements. Academic eligibility is reviewed throughout each athletic season to ensure students are successfully balancing their responsibilities as both students and athletes.

Academic Expectations

Weekly Academic Eligibility

Each school's Athletic Director will work with teachers, counselors, and administrators to monitor student-athletes' academic progress throughout the season.

Students who are experiencing academic challenges may be placed on Academic Review until their grades improve.

Students placed on Academic Review:

May continue to attend practices unless otherwise directed by their school administration.
May be temporarily withheld from athletic competition until they demonstrate satisfactory academic progress.
Will receive academic support and regular progress monitoring from school staff.

Return to Good Standing

Our goal is to support—not punish—student-athletes. If a student becomes academically ineligible, the Athletic Director, coaches, teachers, counselors, and family will work together to develop a plan for academic success.

Students can regain eligibility by:

Improving classroom performance and assignment completion.
Demonstrating consistent effort and positive classroom behavior.
Meeting District 65 and IESA academic eligibility expectations.
Receiving approval from their school's administration and Athletic Director.
