Game Day
D65/IESA Sports Conference Game Day Expectations
Spectator Sportsmanship
The District 65 IESA/Sports Conference is committed to providing a safe, welcoming, and positive environment for every student-athlete, coach, official, and spectator. Athletics are an extension of the educational experience, and we ask everyone attending our events to model the values of respect, integrity, sportsmanship, and kindness.
Our student-athletes are learning life lessons through competition. We encourage all families and fans to cheer enthusiastically, support all participants, and help create an atmosphere where every child can compete with confidence and dignity.
Expectations for All Spectators
- Demonstrate positive sportsmanship before, during, and after every contest.
- Respect student-athletes, coaches, officials, game workers, and fellow spectators at all times.
- Cheer for your team in a positive manner without taunting, booing, or directing negative comments toward players, coaches, officials, or opposing fans.
- Refrain from the use of profanity, inappropriate language, or unsportsmanlike behavior.
- Remain in designated spectator areas and never enter the playing area before, during, or after a contest unless directed by school personnel.
- Follow all District 65, host school, and IESA policies while attending athletic events.
- Help create a safe, inclusive, and family-friendly environment where all student-athletes can thrive.

IESA Sportsmanship Statement
Before every District 65 IESA/Sports Conference contest, the following Illinois Elementary School Association sportsmanship message will be shared with all spectators:
"The Illinois Elementary School Association and the District 65 IESA/Sports Conference welcome you to today's contest. Education-based athletics provide opportunities for students to learn the values of teamwork, leadership, perseverance, respect, and good sportsmanship. We ask that everyone demonstrate respect for our student-athletes, coaches, officials, game personnel, and fellow spectators. Please support your team with positive encouragement and remember that these contests are for the students. Thank you for promoting outstanding sportsmanship and helping create a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone."
Upholding Our Standards
District 65 is committed to maintaining a positive game-day environment. Spectators who engage in unsportsmanlike conduct, use abusive or inappropriate language, threaten participants or officials, or fail to follow District or IESA expectations may be asked to leave the event. Repeated or serious violations may result in suspension from future District 65 athletic contests.
Together, we can create an environment where every student-athlete is supported, every contest is conducted with integrity, and sportsmanship remains at the heart of District 65 Athletics.
This IESA public announcement (PA) will be played before all District 65 IESA volleyball and basketball games. The expectation is for every parent and athlete to watch this video before the season starts! Thank you!
