The District 65 Curriculum & Instruction Department has compiled a list of helpful resources for families in supporting their child in school. More resources will continue to be added to this page throughout the school year. If you have questions about any of this information, please contact your child's teacher.

IStation Reading for our EL students
ISIP™ Reading (Istation’s assessment for pre-K through 8th grade) and Istation Reading (instruction for pre-K through 8th grade) measure and instruct in skills most predictive of reading success:

- Phonological/Phonemic Awareness

Readers are assessed in approximately 30 minutes with an engaging computer-adaptive assessment. Based on their results, learners are seamlessly placed in interactive online instruction. Struggling students are routed through reteach lessons, and teachers are given instant reports to monitor student progress. Each Priority Report directs teachers to specific skills-based, small-group lessons for targeted reading intervention.

Social-Emotional/Equity Learning (SEEL)
Students in Kindergarten, 1st and 4th grade attend SEEL class once a week. SEEL addresses a priority of District 65 to equip our children to be empathetic and kind global citizens who will impact the world in a positive way. The SEEL curriculum was created by a team of teachers and social workers, and incorporates materials from Second Step Social Emotional Learning, interwoven with lessons from additional social justice-oriented sources.
The Second Step Social-Emotional Learning program teaches skills in the following six areas:

- Emotion Management
- Problem-Solving
- Bullying Prevention
- Child Protection
Additional SEEL curriculum has been developed for grades 2, 3, and 5 that can be used by the classroom teacher throughout the school day. They build on the competencies above with additional focus on social justice and mindfulness.

ST Math (K-6)
ST Math is a program used across the district that removes language barriers and focuses on visual learning as an innovative way to grasp math concepts. The ST Math website contains parent resources and ideas to promote math learning! Student username is their 6-digit student ID and their password is their 8-digit lunch pin.
EL3 -- Online Coding and Local Learning Resources (All Grades)
Evanston youth now have one place to go to explore what’s possible based on their interests. Be it an online coding game, a program at Evanston Public Library, a free event at ETHS, or a special project within your science class, EL3 offers a variety of engaging opportunities. EL3 is a collaboration between District 65, Northwestern's Digital Youth Network and Evanston's out-of-school organizations. To sign-in, students sign into CLEVER using their 6-digit student ID for their username and their password is their 8-digit lunch pin. Once in CLEVER, choose the City of Learning logo.
Zearn
Zearn is an interactive, online learning resource that some students may use for further practive of some skills. Zearn follows the Engage NY materials and is aligned to the common core. District 65 uses Zearn as a supplement to core instruction in some situations.

Access to Innovate is a program where students are issued an iPad to use in school and to take home daily. The iPad is an integral part of learning and teachers design curriculum and daily lesson plans expecting students to have access to the iPad. More information about Access to Innovate.
