Leadership Training

According to Illinois State Law (105 ILCS 5/10-16a), school board members are required to complete a minimum of four hours of professional development leadership training covering topics in education and labor law, financial oversight and accountability, and fiduciary responsibilities. These requirements do not limit what a school board member can learn; in fact, board members are encouraged to develop an ongoing professional development plan so that they can continue to gain knowledge and skills that can be applied to their school board service.
