    Q: What are your hours?

    A: Walker's school day is as follows:

    8:50 AM      Supervisors are on playground/Buses unload

    9:00 AM      Bell rings

    9:05 AM      Students are in class

    3:35 PM      Students are dismissed

    Q: Is transportation available?

    A: Transportation is available depending upon your home address. Click here for more information.

     

    Q: Is before and aftercare available?

    A: Yes, there are multiple offerings for students before and after school. 

    District 65’s School Age Child Care (SACC) program provides a nurturing, caring, and safe environment for children before and after school. The program           is available to kindergarten through 5th grade students.

    Youth & Opportunity United (Y.O.U.) provides afterschool care free of charge Monday-Thursday for students in Grades 3-5. Email Brandi Efiom for more details.

     

    Q: How does the school communicate with families? 

    A: Teachers will send regular emails/newsletters home.

    Each Friday, we send home a virtual Friday Folder via email. This could include school newsletters, fliers from community organizations that have been approved by the district, PTA events, and information about upcoming school events. Items are attached as a PDF in the email. 

    Principal sends regular emails home.

    The Walker PTA sends a monthly newsletter.

     

    Q: Do you offer ESL supports?

    A: Walker services students who are learning English as a second language. The English as a Second Language (ESL) program is designed for non-native English speaking students who have difficulty with written or spoken English. The program provides support to help students succeed in academic subjects and learn English. We have dedicated full-time teachers who support students in their acquisition of English both in and out of the classroom setting.

    English as a Second Language is available to all students who qualify for English Learner (EL) services.If you have any questions about the program or services, please contact your child's ESL teacher directly or James Gray.
