Our TeamThe Park team is comprised of highly qualified certified/licensed teachers (Special Education, Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Vision, and Adapted Physical Education), nurses, speech/language pathologists, psychologists, social workers, occupational and physical therapists, transition/vocational specialists, and paraprofessionals. Teachers are trained to use a structured teaching model and facilitate research-based instruction and therapeutic approaches. All staff are trained annually in CPR and First Aid.The teachers at Park School hold an Illinois LBS1 certification to serve students with significant cognitive disabilities and have extensive experience working with students who are on the Autism spectrum, physically challenged and/or medically fragile. The school also offers total communication instruction by teachers who are dually certified to also teach students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing and visually impaired.All related services including speech/language pathologists, psychologists, social workers, occupational and physical therapists have dedicated their careers to serving students with the most significant delays.Nursing services are provided by a Certified School Nurse and Registered Nurse.Park School also has a licensed adaptive physical education teacher who is skilled in providing individualized instruction for all ability levels.Each student is provided a highly structured and individualized vocational experience that builds on their interests and skill set. Park students also participate in fine arts curricular programming taught by certified and licensed art, music, and drama teachers.
