FUNCTIONAL ACADEMICS
Based on the Common Core standards, Park has developed a functional academic curriculum that builds skill sets which carry over into student’s daily lives. Park’s adaptive curriculum also makes it possible for all students to meaningfully participate in adapted physical education, music, art and drama.

ADAPTED DAILY LIVING SKILLS
With our newly renovated home living center, our students have the opportunity to practice daily living skills, which includes everything from meal preparation, laundry, housekeeping skills, and grooming.

TOTAL COMMUNICATION
Park School uses a total communication approach to instruction. “Total Communication” (TC) is a technique that makes use of various modes of communication, such as sign language, voice, pictures, and assistive technology to help each student find his/her voice.

INDEPENDENT SKILLS CENTER
The Independent Skills Center is set up to help students develop the skills to better access their school, home, and community environment. All students are exposed to different types of structured work systems and build an awareness of work productivity. These concepts are then generalized into real-world settings.

COMMUNITY-BASED INSTRUCTION
Community-based instruction gives students the opportunity to apply the functional skills they are learning in the classrooms to their community setting. This type of instruction develops a comfort and awareness of the services and supports each student might access in their community.
