WELCOME TO PARK SCHOOLPark School celebrates the unique abilities of every student by creating a safe and supportive learning environment. The dedicated staff strive to provide young people with the skills and knowledge to reach their full potential and independence in their adult lives. A multi-disciplinary team approach fosters the development of social skills and academic growth consistent with the functional needs of each student. Park School believes that communication and a strong connection between home and school is an essential part of the transition process and a critical component to a student’s educational experience.
Park School serves students ages 3-21 and is a self-contained public therapeutic day program jointly operated by Evanston/Skokie School District 65 and Evanston Township High School District 202.
Students benefit from a highly structured and safe environment to address a variety of special needs including: significant cognitive disabilities, multiple disabilities, autism, hearing and visual impairments, physical/health impairments, communication disorders, sensory, and behavioral impairments.
Total communication and multi-sensory approaches are used to meet each student’s needs. Curricular programs incorporate the Common Core Standards and are adapted to meet the specific needs of each learner. Life skills training and vocational services support students throughout their educational journey and often utilize community-based instruction. Park’s extensive transition program creates a bridge from school-based instruction to community living and work alternatives.
