Board Meetings
To foster transparency and collaboration across our community, members of the public are invited and encouraged to engage in meetings of the School Board and stay informed about the issues that most impact our students and schools.

Meeting Dates
Unless otherwise noted, all meetings are held in the Board Room at Joseph E. Hill Education Center, 1500 McDaniel Ave., Evanston, IL 60201

Board Meeting Time Clarification
Unless otherwise noted, the timing of Regular Board Meetings follow this cadence:
- The Open Meeting begins with roll call at 5:00 PM, immediately followed by a motion to enter Closed Session.

The Public Open Session (the public portion of the meeting) is scheduled to reconvene at 6:00 PM.

Special meetings may be added for the School Board to conduct business as needed. All meetings will be posted in accordance with the Open Meetings Act.

Watch Meetings
Each month, meetings of the School Board, including Committee and Regular Meetings, are streamed live online and are also available on-demand. Recordings are generally available within 48 hours of the meeting taking place.
District 65 Board of Education Meetings are live streamed andcan be viewed via the District 65 YouTube Channel.
Public Participation
Members of the community are welcome and invited to address the School Board during open public meetings on district-related topics.
How to Sign Up
- Individuals must sign up prior to the start of the meeting to address the School Board.
- Speakers will be called in the order in which they sign up to speak.
Sign-up rules:
- An individual is not allowed to sign up on behalf of others.
- An individual may not sign up other persons to speak. The individual may only sign themselves up to speak.
- Commenters are not allowed to yield their time to someone else.
- Interpretation services can be requested by contacting Manuel Alemán, District Translator, at translation@district65.net at least 24 hours in advance. Interpretation will be provided by request only.
Time — to help ensure all voices are heard, the following limits apply:
- Standard Time Limit: Each individual has a maximum of three minutes to speak. In unusual circumstances, and when an individual has made a request in advance to speak for a longer period of time, an individual may be allowed to speak for more than three minutes.
- If multiple individuals wish to address the Board on the same subject, the group is encouraged to appoint a spokesperson.
- If the list of speakers exceeds 20 individuals: If there are more than 20 speakers, each speaker will be given the pro-rated portion of a total time limit of one hour
Rules of Conduct
- Hand-held signs or posters will not be allowed in the room during a Board meeting as it may obstruct the view of audience members.
- The Board values and welcomes courteous, respectful and civil behavior from all speakers and all individuals in attendance. The Board expects speakers to limit statements to those relating to the operations of the Board or the District.
- Profane language and disruptive behavior are prohibited. Individuals who are disruptive may be given a warning and/or may also be removed from the Board meeting, if necessary.
- Comments of a personal nature, unrelated to the operations of the Board or the District, directed towards individual Board members, employees of the Board, or any other individual are not permitted.
Written Statements
- We encourage public speakers to provide their written statement to the School Board Secretary at qureshia@district65.net.
- Submitting a written statement ensures your comments become a part of the permanent record of the School Board.
IL Open Meetings Act
Board of Education meetings are subject to the Illinois Open Meetings Act and, with the exception of matters legally allowed for closed session discussion, are held in public. All actions of the Board of Education occur in the public setting.
Information about the Illinois Open Meetings Act is readily accessible for anyone to view.
