Welcome from Dr. BrownWelcome to Martin Luther King, Jr. Literary and Fine Arts School – better known as King Arts. I am honored and proud to serve as Principal and leader of such an outstanding group of students, parents and educators in one of Evanston’s two K-8 premier magnet schools. King Arts is considered an incubator of best practices with a special emphasis on Literary and Fine Arts integration. The school prides itself on its diverse, inclusive and close-knit community where we are all pulling together in support of our students, families and teachers. As a school, we embrace and appreciate cultural differences and unique learning styles.
The staff is equipped and prepared to deliver a relevant and rigorous curriculum supported by scientifically-based instructional strategies, innovative ideas and cutting-edge technology –all of which enhances our ability to produce desired outcomes. Most importantly, the staff is very caring, committed, and passionate about every child’s experience at our school and their future endeavors.
Dr. King said “Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.” As a valued member of the King Arts magnet school community, I encourage you to participate actively in school activities, functions, and organizations such as the PTA. Positive participation is advantageous and creates a learning environment that promotes, celebrates and acknowledges academic achievement and natural talents.
With your unwavering support, receptiveness to change and new ideas, we are able to complement programs, maintain the integrity of the King Arts magnet school, and prepare your children to be productive and responsible members in an ever-changing society. This is notion is consistent with embracing culture of empowerment principles.
As Principal, I look forward to working closely with the King Arts community to create a school that we all can be proud of and one that attracts prospective families from near and far.
