    Club Description
    Chess Club The Chute Chess Club offers professional instruction from champion Chicago area FIDE chess master Chris Christmas and meets once a week. Sessions are on Tuesdays from 3:15pm - 4:15pm during October to May when school is in session. Fees are $100 for the year. Email parent coordinator Dan Tornheim at dt@dantornheim.com
    Choir Mr. Przekota (Mr. P) - TBA Performances go throughout the year include concerts, contests, Music in the Parks competitions and the YEA Festival. All students are welcome!
    Green STEAM Club Ms. Salazar, Ms. Hiller, Ms. Basue, Ms. Mohrenweiser, Ms. Maillis. We meet in room 313 on Wednesdays after school from 3:15-4:15pm. Green STEAM connects our garden with science, technology, engineering, art and math! Wednesdays after school we garden, cook delicious recipes with food we grew, do experiments, use the maker space at Chute and create art.
    Stage Crew Mrs. McGuire: Meets select Mondays from 3:15pm - 4:15pm in the Auditorium. Open to all grade levels. Discover that working back stage can be just as exciting as performing on stage! Learn about the different types of stages, stage areas, how to operate lights, sound and the fly system (ropes and chains) plus what to consider when creating set, lighting and sound designs. Work backstage on many occasions including concerts & fine arts performances.
    Minecraft Club Mrs. Kushner- Available Mondays after school in the Breezeway from 3:15-4:15 from October 18th through mid-April. Students can play MinecraftEDU on their iPads and learn about other opportunities for creating and coding games. All students welcome!
    Intramural Sports Chute Sports - Intramural Sports - Monday through Thursday-Late bus provided. Anyone can play. No cuts. Shared playing time and NO FEES! Students may join any or all of the activities offered. Once they have made a commitment to play, students are placed on a team and are expected to finish the semester. Activities include: soccer, basketball, flag football, volleyball, lacrosse, dodge ball, fitness club, field hockey, baseball, badminton and track & field.
    Interscholastic Sports Interscholastic Sports -This is a district supported program where Chute students may try out for the Chute team and compete against other middle schools. Parent permission is required for participation and there is a $80 fee (waived for students who receive free and reduced lunch).Fall-Boys’ soccer & Girls’ volleyball Winter-Boys’ & Girls’ Basketball Spring-Girls’ Soccer & Boys’ Basketball *Students will be expected to attend all practices and games and follow all District and school rules
    GSA (Gender Sexuality Alliance) Club Ms. Mesi & Ms. Himebaugh: Meets on Thursdays in room 312 on the following dates for the 2021-22 school year: 9/30, 10/14, 10/28, 11/16, 12/9, 1/20, 2/24, 3/10, 4/14, 4/28, 5/12. This is a safe and inclusive space for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, non-binary, asexual and questioning students and their allies. All students deserve a safe and welcoming school environment.
    Fit Club Ms. Rossa- Meetings are twice a week before school in the Fitness Center. Dates and times TBA.
    Latinx Club Ms. Benson & Ms. Flores- Meets at 3:15-4:15 in room 109 on these dates for the 2021-22 school year: 10/13, 10/27, 11/15, 12/15,1/19, 2/9, 3/9, 4/13, 5/11, and 5/25. The Latinx Club raises awareness of and celebrates Latino cultures and history in order to empower Latinx students and provide them with a support network. Students of any background have the opportunity to come experience Latino pride through music, games, food, field trips, guest speakers, and other activities!
    Debate Club Mr. Walk-Faust- Meets weekly on Thursdays after school. Chute's Argumentative Eagles debate club gives our students of all abilities a fun way of developing their public speaking and critical thinking skills. This club also helps our students become more informed about political and global affairs, or provide a venue for students to train for debate competitions at the local, regional, and national level.
    Girls on the Run/Heart and Soul Ms. Himebaugh, Ms. Chang, Ms. Wilk, Ms. Santos, Ms. Urbanowski, and Ms. Reyes. Girls on the Run is a group for girls to build self-esteem and to feel empowered through running.
    Black Student Union Ms. Fox, Ms. Wells, Ms. Ramsey, Ms. Ransom, Ms. Reyes, Ms. Saunders, Ms. Tran, Ms. Wright. Black Student Union is a community for students of color and allies to discuss Black culture and history, and rewrite the narrative. Meetings are Thursdays at 3:15PM in room 301 on these dates: 10/28, 11/11, 12/9, 1/20, 2/10, 3/10, and 4/14
