Free/Reduced Price Meal Application
-
A NEW meal application must be submitted every school year. In order to ensure benefits are received by the first day of school, Wednesday, August 23, families are required to submit a completed online meal application by Wednesday, August 16, 2023.
There are students who will qualify for free meals without an application. Families that receive a Meal Approval Confirmation Letter from D65 do NOT need to complete an application. Please ensure that all D65 students in your household are listed on this letter. Please contact the Nutrition Services Department immediately if this is not the case.
We encourage all District 65 families to apply for free and reduced-price meal benefits annually! Students who are eligible are entitled to school breakfast and lunch at a free or reduced cost. In addition, several other benefits are available, including free or reduced-price school fees, summer camps, internet access, and more!

Meal applications must be completed online. If you know someone who does not have internet access, please see below for a list of community locations with free access.
Applications are processed within 10 days of receipt by the Nutrition Services Department. Approval (will note free or reduced status) and denial letters are emailed to the address on file.
For assistance in completing the meal application, please contact the Nutrition Services Department at (847) 859-8130 and nutritionservices@district65.net.

Who should complete a meal application?
Free and reduced-price meals are available to students unable to pay the full meal price according to criteria based on household size and income. Household is defined as all persons living under the same roof and functioning as one economic unit. All D65 families who think they may be eligible are encouraged to apply.
Free and reduced-price meal benefits are only valid for the school year listed on the top of the application; all families must complete a new application each school year.
*If any member of the household is receiving SNAP benefits (Food Stamps) or Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) they should receive a Direct Certification letter for free meal benefits before the start of the school year. Please note, Medicaid (in some income-eligible instances), will not receive a Direct Certification letter for free meal benefits. If any member of the household is receiving Medicaid, please complete the meal application.
