2022-23 Transportation Information
Transportation services for the 2022-2023 school year will resume for kindergarten through eighth grade students on August 24, 2022. Bus route information will be updated through the student information system, PowerSchool, and families will be notified via email when bus pick-up times and routes are available.
Reminder! Transportation During the First Weeks of the School Year
During the first weeks of the school year, the ability of a driver to complete their route may take longer. During this time, we ask for your extended patience as drivers may need to assist students who are new to utilizing bus services. Additionally, certain factors may delay a bus driver from leaving their school site promptly, including the driver’s responsibility of checking that students have boarded the correct vehicle. Please consider these common scenarios during the first weeks of school and factor-in additional time for a student’s arrival/departure to and from their school site.
Magnet School Busing
Families with students enrolled in District 65’s magnet schools (Dr. Bessie Rhodes School of Global Studies or Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Literary and Fine Arts School) who are interested in magnet school bus service must submit their contact information and payments to the appropriate staff member (located below) to participate in the service.
Students enrolled in a magnet school or special program such as the African Centered Curriculum (ACC) or Two Way Immersion programs (TWI) may be eligible for transportation. Transportation fees per student are:
- $539 full fee for students in grades K - 8
- $161 for students qualifying for reduced-price meals
- Waived for students qualifying for free meals.
Childcare/Community Partner Stops
Bus riders may request transportation to one community partner or center/childcare stop if that stop is within the attendance area of your child’s school. To request a stop, please review the information outlined on the main Transportation page our website. You may also contact your school or email email@example.com. Childcare transportation information is not kept on file from year to year.
