• Camp KuumbaStudents gathered for a picture at a museum.

Camp Kuumba is a free summer program designed to give Black male students of Evanston equitable opportunities to discover themselves and the world around them through their participation in sports, arts, reading, exploration, financial literacy, STEM, and community service projects. The three-week camps also explore the Chicagoland area with field trips to such places as the Museum of Science & Industry, Lincoln Park Zoo, DuSable Museum, Northwestern University and more.  The goal of Camp Kuumba is to engage, encourage, and empower our young Black men to reach their fullest potential.

There are two different camps this summer for more age-appropriate instruction:

    Rising sixth through eighth graders

    • June 13 - July 1, Monday through Friday, 7:30am-5:00pm; breakfast and lunch are provided

    Rising third - fifth graders

    • July 5 - 22, Monday through Friday, 12:00-5:00pm; lunch is provided for campers who participate in the ETHS summer sports camp that runs the exact same days from 9:00am-11:00am
