Newcomers

The Newcomer Summer Learning program is geared towards students that speak another language at home. Only students that arrived in the United States from January 2022 to present day are able to join the program. This program will help students develop their English language skills and allow them to further practice academic language. During the morning portion of the program, students will be engaged academically by ESL endorsed teachers. In the afternoon, students will have the opportunity to enjoy some summer fun and increase their English social skills by partnering with students from the Oakton’s Freedom School Change Makers through activities from District 65's School Aged Child Care program! El programa 'Aprendizaje de verano para estudiantes recién llegados' (Newcomer Summer Learning) está dirigido a estudiantes que hablan otro idioma en casa. Los estudiantes que llegaron a los Estados Unidos desde enero del 2022 hasta el día de hoy pueden unirse al programa. Este programa ayudará a los estudiantes a desarrollar sus habilidades en el idioma inglés y les permitirá practicar más el lenguaje académico. Durante la sesión matutina del programa, los estudiantes participarán académicamente con maestros que se especializan en estrategias para alumnos que están aprendiendo inglés. ¡Por la tarde, los estudiantes tendrán la oportunidad de disfrutar un poco de diversión de verano y de incrementar sus habilidades sociales en inglés a través de actividades del programa de cuidado de niños en edad escolar del Distrito 65! ¡Esperamos que nos pueda acompañar!
