Test to Stay Directions for Parents / Guardians
-
When you are notified that your child is a close contact:
-
If your child is vaccinated (14 days after the second dose), there is nothing you need to do except monitor for symptoms and have your child test in 5-7 days.
- bullet one
-
If your child is unvaccinated, let your school’s health office or building administrator know that you’d like to participate in Test to Stay rather than enroll in the Quarantine Remote Classroom (QRC)
- bullet one
-
If your child does not normally participate in SHIELD testing, ask your school’s administrator or health office to make sure your child is enrolled in SHIELD’s testing system. If you have opted your child out of testing at school, the health office will need to register your child. Once your child is registered, they can provide their birth date at the time of testing.
-
Bring your child to the District’s testing location at JEH 1500 McDaniel Ave. between the hours of 7:30-9am at least two times after the day of exposure and between days 5-7 after last close contact.
-
Make sure to fill out the yellow Test to Stay Confirmation Slip when you are at JEH and have your child bring it with them when they go to school to turn into the health office.
-
Your child may NOT ride the bus to and from school or participate in any extracurricular activities for 10 days.
-
You will be notified as soon as possible if your child received positive or inconclusive results. If your child tests positive, they will need to be excluded from school. If the test results are inconclusive, they will need to remain home but can test again the next day and return to school with a negative test result.
-
Continue to monitor your child for symptoms until 14 days have passed since the exposure.
