• Research

Evanston/Skokie School District 65 encourages research that provides a basis for improving school processes and student learning within the district. While the district encourages educational research, the need for research and the collection of information is always balanced against the district’s objectives. Per Board policy, surveys and research conducted within the district require prior review and written approval from the Research, Accountability, and Data Department. During evaluation, we particularly encourage proposals that address issues of racial equity. The district has developed a research agenda to guide researchers toward our most pressing questions and issues.

Important Update Regarding COVID-19

Important update regarding COVID-19: Submissions for new research activities in District 65 are being suspended until the State of Illinois has reached Stage 5 of its restorative plan. Please see our full statement regarding research procedures during this time. We thank everyone for their commitment to ensuring the safety and health of our community.

The aforementioned statement applies to anyone outside of District 65 interested in conducting research in collaboration with a District 65 department or in partnership with any external organizations. The statement also applies to anyone working at the district but conducting research with an outside party (e.g. University). Please note that if you are an employee of District 65, you cannot conduct research (with an external organization) in the school(s) that you work in. However, you may propose to conduct research at a different school in the district. As a reminder, our Accountability and Data section may have the information you need in publicly available reports.
