A list of medical advisory team members has been posted to our District 65 website and was shared in the January 15th weekly update from Superintendent Horton. The District leadership team formed its medical advisory group with consideration to ensuring diverse representation in voice - this includes medical professionals, parents, and staff.
Medical professionals were considered to represent various disciplines including pediatrics, infectious disease, and emergency medicine. Consideration was also made for physicians that practice both within Evanston and Skokie and also outside of this community. Recommendations were also made by the Illinois Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (ICAAP) and the Illinois Education Association (IEA) to ensure independent, unbiased voice.
Several of the medical professionals are also District 65 parents; however, three additional parents were invited to observe the discussion and to share their perspective. Parents were selected with support from school principals to ensure diverse representation of school, grade level, and identity.
District 65 union leaders were invited to participate to represent each of the district’s five bargaining units as well as administrative staff who play a key role in the reopening of schools for in-person learning.
