Kindergarten registration for the 2022-2023 school year opens on December 6, 2021.
The lottery for selective enrollment programs or the district's magnet school options will be open from December 6, 2021, through March 18, 2022, for the 2022-2023 school year.

To attend a District 65 school on a tuition-free basis, a student must reside within the boundaries of the district. View information regarding accepted proof of residency to further guide your registration process. For Spanish-speaking families, the Spanish version of the residency verification form has also been provided.
Attendance Area Maps
Students are assigned and automatically enrolled to their local area school (LAS) based on where they resided. Residents interested in enrolling their children in District 65 can enroll their child in an attendance-area elementary school (K-5) or middle school (6-8), apply for Permissive Transfer so that children may attend another attendance-area school; or apply to attend a magnet school (K-8) or magnet program (K-5). Please refer to the following Attendance Area Maps to determine the appropriate school that fits your residency/location.
Magnet School Information
District 65 offers two magnet schools, Dr. Bessie Rhodes School of Global Studies and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Literary & Fine Arts School. Both provide a continuous school setting from kindergarten through eighth grade and have specialized focuses on global studies (Bessie Rhodes) and literacy and fine arts (King Arts). Students must be registered for their attendance area school prior to completing an application for enrollment in a magnet school.
