    Parents are highly encouraged to complete the online new student registration form (step 1) to ensure the district can assign children to the appropriate schools as early as possible.

    After you complete step 1, a member of the registration team will follow-up individually with families. Parents will be informed on how to complete step 2 of the registration Process directly.

    The lottery early application deadline (3/31/20) will also be extended and details will be forthcoming. Parents who submitted their online registration form will be able to request changes to their lottery applications by sending an email to: parents@district65.net.

    Welcome to Evanston/Skokie School District 65! We look forward to welcoming your family into our school district. Students are assigned to an attendance-area elementary or middle school based on their residence address. Click here to view the District 65 attendance maps.

    How do I Begin the Registration Process?

    District 65 staff members are available to guide families through the registration process and make the adjustment to a new school district as seamless as possible. Registrars are available at the Joseph E. Hill (JEH) Education Center, located at 1500 McDaniel Avenue, Evanston, IL 60201, Monday-Friday, from 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM. Computers are also available in the lobby for your convenience and staff members are available to provide assistance.

    Follow the steps below to complete the New Student registration process:

    Step 1 - Online Registration form

    Click on the registration form link below to create your InfoSnap account and complete the registration form (must complete one per student). Upon submission of the completed form, a confirmation message will appear with information including next steps, registration hours, and how to complete registration for any additional new students.

    STEP 2 - The Registration team will contact you via email after you submit your online registration form to complete step two (required documents listed below)

    • Birth Document - STATE of ILLINOIS REQUIRES PARENTS/GUARDIANS TO PRESENT an original or certified copy of the birth certificate (Visa or passport if the birth certificate is not available) IN-PERSON during Step 2 of the registration process.

      Electronic uploads will be temporarily accepted electronically during COVID-19 closures. Please see additional details below.

    • Required Residency Documents - Please CLICK HERE to view SPECIFIC EXAMPLES of accepted proof of residency documentation. 

    • Additional Documentation:

      • any applicable court documents (custody agreement, guardianship, order of protection, etc.)

      • TRANSFER STUDENTS (Grades 1-8): Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) Transfer Form. Your child's former school district may send the ISBE Transfer form via fax to: 847-328-7459 and any student records via fax to: 847-866-7261 or to studentrecords@district65.net. You may also bring these documents with you in-person to JEH to finalize your registration.

      The registrar will review with the family, the registration form, birth certificate, residency documents, and all other applicable documents. If the residency documentation is incomplete, you may be asked to return to finalize registration when all documents are available.

    • Student Health Documentation: Prior to the first day of school, proof of current immunizations applicable physical and exam must be provided to the Health Services Department. Students who are not medically compliant at the time of registration WILL NOT be allowed to attend school until they provide proof of having the required immunizations and physical exam.

    Families who are interested in transportation options for their child/ren should email the following information to transportation@district65.net:

    - Student/s full name
    - Student/s full street address
    - School/s
    - Grade/s

    It may take between 3-5 days once a student is verfied by Transportation Services to receive pickup/drop off times and location/s.

    The State of Illinois REQUIRES families of students enrolling in the district for the first time to present an original or a certified copy of the student’s birth certificate.

    If the original birth certificate cannot be provided during registration, the State of Illinois allows a period of 30-days in which to provide it. Please CLICK HERE to download the 30-day Notice. This form must be completed and presented to the registrar.

    If the original birth certificate cannot be obtained, or is not in ENGLISH, other legal proof of the student’s name and birth date will be accepted along with a completed Birth Certificate Affidavit. Please CLICK HERE to download the Affidavit. This form must be completed and presented to the registrar.


    Students transferring into the district must be in “good standing” at their previous school. Students on suspension or expulsion must serve the entire term of any suspension or expulsion prior to registering. Students that are transferring from another Illinois school must provide an ISBE Transfer Form.


    Children who enter first grade must be six years-old on or before September 1 of that school year. Based upon an assessment of the child’s readiness, a child will be allowed to attend first grade if he or she attended a non-public preschool; continued his or her education at that school through kindergarten; was taught in kindergarten by an appropriately certified teacher; and will be six years-old on or before December 31.

    The parent/guardian of a homeless child has the right to register the child in the school the student was attending when he/she became homeless or the local attendance area school based on where they are currently living. Homeless children qualify for additional services under the McKinney-Vento Act. Click here for more information.

    Families with children in private or parochial schools, including home schooling, can enroll on a part-time basis if the child lives in the district boundaries, iStudents accepted for partial enrollment must comply with all discipline and attendance requirements. Student fees are pro-rated based on the number of classes the student attends. Please contact your local area administrator for additional information.


    Children who live in District 65 and are home-schooled or attend private/parochial schools may register so the child can be evaluated for special education services. In addition, children who attend private or parochial schools within the district boundaries, but do not live within the district, may register so that the child can be evaluated for special services. The private or parochial school will provide the parent/guardian with a letter that should be brought to registration. Special education services are provided as soon as possible after identification, evaluation, and placement procedures provided by state law.

    Non-resident students may attend District 65 students upon approval of a request submitted by the student's parent(s)/guardian(s) for non-resident

    admission. Approval is subject to the following conditions:

    1. School must be below class size guidelines;
    2. Enrollment is on a year-to-year basis. Approval for any one year is not authorization to attend the following year.
    3. Payment of tuition is required prior to registration.
    4. Transportation to and from school is not provided for non-resident students.
    5. Non-resident students are not eligible for Magnet School/Program placement.
