Every Child, Every Day, Whatever it Takes
Welcome to Evanston/Skokie School District 65! Situated on the shores of Lake Michigan and just north of Chicago, District 65 is a pre-K through 8th grade school district serving more than 7,500 students from the City of Evanston and a small neighboring section of the Village of Skokie. District 65 represents a wide range of ethnic, economic, and cultural backgrounds. Please explore the information listed below to learn more about student registration in District 65.
New Student Registration
Families new to the district, as well as those with children entering kindergarten, an early childhood education program, families of withdrawn students that are returning, and those for whom there is a change in custody should follow the instructions in the 'New Student
' section located on the left-hand side of this page.
Re-Registration for the 2017-2018 school year
Families of students currently registered for a District 65 early childhood program who will be kindergarten age (5 years old on or before September) will receive an email (or letter if no email address is on file) in late January with instructions on how to access and complete the re-registration process.
Families of currently enrolled students; entering 6th grade; placed outside of the district for services; families that have reported their address as temporary; those for whom mail has been returned as undeliverable by U.S. Postal Service (USPS); or for whom their current address is not on file with USPS will receive an email (or letter if no email address is on file) in April with instructions on how to access and complete the re-registration process.
Please visit the 'Re-Registration
' section located on the left-hand side of the page for detailed information about this process.
Magnet Schools/Magnet Programs/Permissive Transfer
Permissive transfers provide families and children with a choice and opportunity to attend a district school outside of their attendance-area school. Attendance-area schools are determined by the address of the family's residence. District 65 is home to two K-8 magnet schools (Dr. Bessie Rhodes School of Global Studies and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Literary and Fine Arts School) and offers two different magnet programs housed at attendance-area schools (African-Centered Curriculum and Two-Way Immersion). The application process is open only to registered students living within the District 65 attendance boundaries. For more information about these options, please use the links located on the left-hand side of this page.
