Attending school every day is a very important part of a successful school experience. Families are responsible for ensuring that children attend school. As stated in the District 65 Student Handbook, parents/guardians must authorize absences and notify the school in advance or at the time of the absence.
Valid absences include illness, observance of a religious holiday, death in the immediate family, family emergency, other situations beyond the control of the student, or other circumstances that cause reasonable concern to the parent/guardian for the student’s safety or health.
Parents/guardians may report an absence by leaving a message on the School Attendance Hotline listed below. Callers are prompted to leave information including child's name, grade, and teacher or section number, or classroom.
