Welcome to Evanston/Skokie School District 65
Working together as a community, we will inspire creativity and prepare each student to achieve academically, grow personally, and contribute positively to a global society. Every Child, Every Day, Whatever it Takes.
Situated on the shores of Lake Michigan and just north of Chicago, Evanston/Skokie School District 65 is a pre-K through 8th grade school district serving more than 7,500 students from the City of Evanston and a small neighboring section of the Village of Skokie. The district represents a wide range of diverse ethnic, economic, and cultural backgrounds. District 65 is fortunate to serve a community that embraces public education. Throughout the course of the school year and during the summer months, the district partners with many community organizations in providing resources and support for students.
Nearly 1,400 outstanding educators and support staff members have made their home in District 65 and are dedicated to serving its students and families each and every day. The school district consists of 10 attendance-area elementary schools (grades K-5); three attendance-area middle schools (grades 6-8); two magnet schools (grades K-8); an early childhood center; and a school for students with special needs.
All students are taught by highly qualified educators who share in the belief that all students can learn and give it their all in preparing students to succeed in high school and beyond. District 65 embraces the use of technology and innovative educational practices to enhance student learning. In addition, many of the programs and services integrated into the curriculum are designed to “focus on the whole child” and provide rich arts, drama, and musical components. District 65 also provides a wide array of intervention and support services such as the Positive Behavior Intervention & Supports program (PBIS) and Response to Intervention (RtI).
Many students that attend school in District 65 move on to Evanston Township High School. ETHS District 202 is a four-year comprehensive high school occupying a 62-acre campus in Evanston.
