school bus.jpgStudent transportation service is available for eligible students. Eligibility requirements may include distance, identified safety hazards, or a student's special education needs. To confirm your child's eligibility, please contact the Student Transportation Department at 847 859-8708.  Download, save,complete, and return the form to reserve a seat on the bus.
District 65 contracts with outside vendors for student transportation services. The provider for eligible riders in elementary, middle and magnet school is Positive Connections (847 676-8680). Parents may direct questions to Positive Connections about service or status/location of a bus en route.  
Children enrolled in the Head Start program are transported by Chicago School Transit. For Head Start, families may direct questions about service or to check on the status/location of a bus to the Student Transportation Department at 847 859-8300.  
Free student transportation is available for elementary students who (1) reside 1.5 miles or more from their attendance area school or (2) reside where walking to school or to a pick-up point or bus stop would constitute serious hazard due to vehicular traffic or rail crossings as identified by Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) criteria and where adequate public transportation is not available.
Free transportation and vehicle adaptation, where necessary, are available for students with special needs when it is written in the student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP).
Free student transportation is available for English-language learner (ELL) students enrolled in a bilingual education program located in a school other than the child’s regular attendance-area school.
The district may provide transportation to and from school-sponsored activities.  
Transportation service is not available for students attending school on permissive transfer to a school other than their attendance area school.
Transportation is available for students attending magnet schools or other specially designated schools or programs who: (1) reside at a distance of 1.5 miles or more from their school, or (2) reside within 1.5 miles of their school where walking to school or to a pick-up point or bus stop constitutes a serious hazard due to vehicular traffic or rail crossings as identified by Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) criteria and where adequate public transportation is not available.  Two-thirds of the cost of transportation to a magnet school or program will be borne by the family.  Students eligible for free or reduced-price lunch also may be eligible for free or reduced-price transportation.
