Jordan Teacher Center
The Jordan Teacher Center is located at the Joseph E. Hill Educational Center. This unique resource center, also known as the "JTC" offers professional teaching resources and professional growth/development opportunities for District 65 teachers and administrators. The JTC provides an extensive array of materials, resource tools, and equipment to support the instructional programs of District 65. JTC is an adjunct facility of the District 65 Curriculum and Operations Department.
The Jordan Teacher Center began its history in 1967 in the basement of the original District 65 Administration Building located on Ridge Avenue. It first served as the District Library Services Office, providing print and audio-visual resources for District 65 classrooms. The coordinator, the late William (Bill) Jordan for whom the center is named, had a vision toward expanding services for District teachers and led the initiative to relocate the center to the present location of the Bessie Rhodes Magnet School, which housed District 65 Child Care, Walker Kindergarten Center, and district curriculum resource space. As the Jordan Teacher Center continued to grow, it was moved to Chute School, and later to Evanston Township High School. In 2002, upon the opening of the new Joseph E. Hill Education Center, the Jordan Teacher Center
relocated to its present facility.
Today the JTC offers space, equipment and resources for training, meetings, and conferencing. There is also self-service copying, computers (Mac and PC), printers, poster-making, document binding, labeling, laminating, button-making, die-cut stenciling and paper supplies.
