The Health Services Department of District 65 is located in the Joseph E. Hill Education Center at 1500 McDaniel Avenue.
The Coordinator of Health Services, an Illinois certified school nurse, is responsible for developing and supervising procedures to insure compliance with the Illinois School Code, and District 65 board policies, relating to student health and health services. The Coordinator promotes a comprehensive school health program including but not limited to supervising health office personnel, conducting in-services for health office personnel and district staff, and contributing to decision-making for special needs students.
Each school has a health office staffed by one of the health office personnel who have current certifications in both CPR and First Aid. In addition to providing first aid and administering medications, the health office personnel:
Notify the Coordinator of Health Services, principal and parents of any health problems or injuries at school
Assist with the collection and maintenance of student health records
Assist with student screenings, and otherwise provide the Coordinator with information on students with special health needs/concerns.
