The District 65 Calendar Committee is a joint committee of teachers, administrators and parents.  It meets from fall to spring to review and make recommendations on topics related to the development of the school calendar

Committee members review draft calendars for the coming school year and two subsequent years.  They have an opportunity to share ideas and recommendations before the Administration prepares its recommendations to the Board of Education for approval.

Each spring, the District 65 Administration presents calendars for Board of Education approval as follows:

(1)  A calendar for the current school year that identifies the last day of school as determined by whether or not emergency days were needed and used during the school year.

(2)  A calendar for the coming school year that identifies the first and last day of school, institute days for teachers, holidays, spring and winter recess, fall and spring parent-teacher conferences days, school improvement days (when students are released early but faculty and staff remain for scheduled professional development).

(3)  Draft calendars for the two subsequent school years that identify the first and last day of school as well as teacher institute days, holidays, spring and winter recess.

District 65 works in cooperation with Evanston Township High School District 202 to coordinate efforts to begin school on the same day each fall and to hold spring and winter recess together.
