Board Vacancy Information

At the September 19, 2022 Regular Board Meeting, the District 65 School Board welcomed Tracy Olasimbo as its newest member. Ms. Olasimbo will fill the vacancy left by Marquise Weatherspoon who resigned her position, effective August 8, 2022.

The Board observed a thorough, timely process in seeking candidates to fill the vacancy. Applications were sought from August 9 - September 2, 2022 which resulted in the receipt of thirteen completed applications from a diverse group of community members. 

“We are so fortunate to have the opportunity to welcome Tracy to the Board,” said Sergio Hernandez, D65 Board president, “She is a leader and a community advocate whose commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and access for all community members aligns with the board’s vision and mission to embed, operationalize, and normalize success for ALL District 65 students, families and staff.”

Tracy is an advocate for equity in education, a seasoned program leader, a skilled facilitator, and a content creator. She is impassioned with helping others foster cultural awareness to build equitable and inclusive environments. Tracy currently works as the Family Engagement Coordinator at the Evanston Public Library.

“I am thrilled to be the newest addition to the District 65 School Board,” she said. “I’m even more excited to collaborate with each board member, Dr. Horton, and administration to continue the challenging work to shift systems and structures, while elevating the educational experience for every student and their families.”

Ms. Olasimbo’s term will run through the April 2023 election.
