Several District 65 students were recognized at the McGaw YMCA Annual Youth Program Gala event. Kayla Jackson (King Lab), Allysah Boothe (Chute), Angel Cowan (Lincolnwood), Krystal Forrester (Haven) and Brianna Miller (Bessie Rhodes) are the 2012 Talley Reece Award
recipients. These students were honored at the McGaw YMCA annual event for the G.R.A.C.E. Project of Family Focus Evanston. GRACE is the acronym for Girls ReAffirming Character and Education. Their project included working on a community garden to demonstrate and provide healthy foods taken to the West End Farmer's Market for sale to the community.
Students received a one-year youth membership to the McGaw YMCA and their group received a $500 check to continue their community outreach efforts. The accompanying image and a complete story about the award can be found on the McGaw YMCA site.
