District 65 proudly shares the announcement from the American Alliance for Theatre and Education (AATE) about the Betsy Quinn Scholarship established to support conference attendance for members of quality youth programs, particularly those involving underserved populations.
This award was created in celebration of Betsy Quinn’s leadership and dedication to the American Alliance for Theatre and Education. According to the AATE press release, “Betsy’s tenure as President and indeed her ongoing, dynamic career has been marked by her devotion to young people in the arts, with a particular ability to celebrate diversity and inclusion in everything she does. Whether teaching creative drama, whether directing a cast of over 200 young performers herself, whether crafting policy or standards for our national organizations, or whether directing a production of college students and children at the university level – multiculturalism, artistry and inclusion have always been hallmarks of her ground breaking work.”

Nominees must represent or provide benefit for an under-served community and have a sponsoring educator or director who can accompany the group to the annual conference.~ Last year’s award recipient was Crawling with Monsters from the University of Texas-Pan American.
