Let's Move! is a campaign to combat the problem of childhood obesity within a generation, so that children born today will grow up leading healthier lives. Over the past 20 years, obesity rates have tripled for children in suburban Cook County. As an official Let's Move! city, Evanston is doing its part to combat these obesity statistics.
The Let's Move campaign, launched by First Lady Michelle Obama, works to combat the epidemic of childhood obesity through a comprehensive approach that builds on effective strategies, and mobilizes public and private sector resources. Let's Move engages every sector impacting the health of children to achieve the national goal, and provides schools, families and communities simple tools to help kids be more active, eat better, and get healthy.
